Bandwidth

In order to insure each resident gets fast internet speeds we need to limit the amount of downloads and uploads from each resident in one day.

When using ResNet all students fall under our (MIO) bandwidth policy. This policy's goal is to make ResNet a usable resource that all students may enjoy. With all of the residents sharing one resource it can get used up quickly, however with more and more educational and entertainment uses coming out we need to continue adapting. The current policy has been changed from the 2006-2007 school year and is set at the following:

2.5 gigabytes (GB) of data (both uploading and downloading combined) in a 24 hour period (midnight to midnight daily).
A student may not upload more than 750 megabytes (MB) of data in the 24 hour period.

To check your bandwidth the Department of Residence Life provides bandwidth information on your portal account.
